📘 Things I’m reading this week - 31/01/2025

1️⃣ https://www.strategyzer.com/library/10-characteristics-of-great-value-propositions

I recently discovered Strategyzer’s Knowledge Library, and it’s an absolute goldmine for founders and leaders. Their content is free and packed with insights, so expect to see more of it in future issues of The BioRevolution.

One post that really stood out covers the 10 characteristics of a great value proposition—a must-read if you’re refining your UVP. I’ve been working with several founders on this recently (you can check out a recent post I wrote on the topic here), and nailing your UVP early gives you a huge advantage. It clarifies your North Star, guides technical development, and makes pitching infinitely easier. More importantly, when your whole team understands it, you ensure alignment with everyone pulling toward the same goal.

What makes this article especially useful? Specific examples for each of the ten characteristics, making the insights easy to apply. If you're working on your UVP, this is a great place to start.

🌍 The Netherlands Doubles Down on Cultivated & Fermented Foods

The Netherlands is making a major push to become a global hub for cellular agriculture with the launch of two new scale-up facilitiesCultivate at Scale and the NIZO Biotechnology Fermentation Facility.

🔬 Cultivate at Scale focuses on cell-based cultivation, offering R&D and scale-up capacity up to 1,000L.

🧪 NIZO's new facility supports precision fermentation, scaling production up to 10,000L.

Both facilities were backed by a multi-million dollar investment from the National Growth Fund for Cellular Agriculture Netherlands, reinforcing the country’s commitment to advancing sustainable food production.

With these new resources, startups in cellular agriculture and fermentation now have a clearer path to scaling their innovations. Exciting times for the industry!

🔬 The fund focuses on biotech-enabled B2B solutions that drive sustainability at price parity or better across:

🌱 Food & Agriculture

🧪 Materials

🌍 Environmental Technologies

Forbion plans to make 10-12 investments at Series A & B, providing critical capital to scale biotech solutions. When combined with the €300M European Circular Bioeconomy Fund, Europe is closing in on half a billion euros dedicated to advancing the bioeconomy with these two funds alone. 🚀
